We currently live in the Ozark Mountains in northwest Arkansas, where we create our jewelry. We consider ourselves artists first and jewelers second and feel that what we create is truly a “wearable work of art”.
Our design technique uses the ancient Japanese technique called nerikomi. We begin by making our own porcelain clay from a personal recipe and adding commercial stains to create our colors. These colors are then combined, shaped, sliced, and layered to form a log or loaf. Each piece of jewelry is sliced from the wet log and then shaped into whatever we’re creating. After that, each one is then kiln-fired to 2200 degrees F, after a clear glaze is applied. The last and final firing is at 1300 degrees after a 24-karat gold edging is applied to each one. We are then able to attach components to each piece to complete them as a wearable art form.

Bio
We started Daaman Porcelain Jewelry 28 years ago, after deciding we wanted more control over our lifestyle and more time to spend with our two young children. We’ve been fortunate enough to live and make a living in one of the most beautiful places in the United States. Our art form is incredibly fun and flexible, and has never been a drain on our energy. We have kept up and changed our jewelry line with the ever-fluctuating modern dress styles, so we are always challenged.
