Ripples Greeting Cards

Amanda Bancroft | Fayetteville

As a child, my family moved to different states. The people I loved were so far away, and greeting cards helped to bridge that distance. Desiring to contribute to these human connections through affordable art, and also to offset costs of my nature conservation projects, I began Ripples Greeting Cards in 2014 with the card “Tea with Peter Rabbit,” now retired after hopping all over the place, including sailing with the US Coast Guard, and on fireplace mantels, businesses, and bookshelves around the country. My designs are drawn by hand in our off-grid tiny house by applying pan pastels and colored pencils to a double-sided matte film surface. Each one takes about 100 hours (or a couple of months) to complete. Customer feedback is incorporated during the editing process, to accommodate a diversity of perspectives including “readability” for those with partial vision loss.

Big box store cards are often made using methods that pollute the planet and harm laborers in order to give you the cheapest prices. That’s why Ripples Greeting Cards are sustainably and ethically made in the USA by a carbon-neutral employee-owned print company, sleeved in compostable plant material, and 100% of profits fund nature conservation (such as the planting of milkweed for Monarch butterflies). All cards are blank inside. I write poems on the backside to express the sentiment of the artwork on the front, and dedicate each poem to special people in my life or inspiring ancestors.

Cards are currently sold at Pearl’s Books, Terra Studios, and Ozark Natural Foods Co-op, or you may order directly from me.
