Bio
My name is Rebecca Zufelt. I am a Native North American who descended from the Sac and Fox, Absentee Shawnee Tribes, as well as the people of these regions throughout Europe which include England and Northwestern Europe, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Sardinia, Northern Italy, France and Basque. It is through this lens that I have been viewed in life. This has shaped my perspective and my experiences in this journey of life in this world. Some of my artwork explores this journey of self-discovery. I am a self-taught artist who grew up in Springfield, Missouri. I currently reside in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Some of my influences include William Blake, Edgar Allan Poe, Pablo Picasso, and Salvador Dali. The artwork I create varies from painting, sculpting, jewelry, drawing and writing. The techniques I use in my artwork depend on the piece. I draw inspiration from my experiences in life and nature. My art is created to promote thought and reflection of the impacts each of us has on ourselves, the people in our lives, our communities, and the world. I believe humanity is one and we are all connected to each other and to this world in which we live. It is those connections that my art and writings explore. Nature is a theme throughout many of my works.
“We are all a part of the story of this world, I want people to walk away with that in mind, and hopefully reflect on what part they add to this story.” Rebecca S Zufelt, 2023
